How to Create an Addon Domain to a Hosting Account

To create an addon domain name, kindly follow the steps below;

  • Ensure the domain name you wish to add is registered.
  • Check if the domain's name servers is pointing to the nameservers of your hosting account with us, if not,
  • Change the nameservers to the nameservers of your hosting account which was sent to your email address with your cPanel login details.
  • (If you also bought the domain name from us, there is a very likely chance that your domain is already pointing to the right nameservers)
  • If your domain nameservers already point to these, proceed to the next step.
  • Login to your cPanel, click Addon Domains under Domains.
  • Enter the desired domain name.
    • There are three fields cPanel asks for when creating an Addon Domain.
  1. New Domain Name: Enter the new domainname.com, but do not include HTTP or WWW in the name.
  2. subdomain Name: This will be the folder cPanel creates in your public_html folder. Normally, you want to ensure the name you provide does not already exist as a folder in public_html, but cPanel will automatically suggest the name and we recommend you stick with the suggestion.
  3. Document Root: cPanel automatically suggests the name recommended.

Your new domain has been successfully added. You can upload the website files to the specific addon folder which was created in the public_html folder.

Note: If you did not buy the domain name from us, your new domain name will not display your site until you set that domain's name servers. You must go to the company where you registered your domain, and change the nameservers there.

Note: It takes a maximum of 24 hours for add on domains to propagate properly, so do not be alarmed if the domain does not work immeditely with your hosting, give it some time, it will come up, on or before 24 hours.
